Trigger

Any stimulus that reliably elicits a specific internal state, deliberately installed (anchor) or spontaneously formed.

A trigger is a stimulus-response cue. Triggers can form spontaneously (a song that always brings back a specific feeling) or be installed deliberately as anchors. NLP treats spontaneous triggers and deliberate anchors as the same mechanism applied with or without intention.
