Representational system

A sensory channel a person uses to think and represent experience (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.).

Representational systems are sensory modalities used internally. NLP distinguishes the lead system (how someone accesses information first), the primary system (their dominant ongoing mode), and the reference system (what they check against). Mismatches between these explain many communication breakdowns.
